Club Ceilidh is a high-energy modern ceilidh and community dance night bringing live music, joyful chaos and a brilliant crowd. What started as a local gathering has quickly grown into a much-loved night out with a loyal following.

Club Ceilidh takes the traditional ceilidh and turns the volume up. Expect fast-paced dancing, a brilliant live band, a welcoming atmosphere and a packed dance floor.

Whether you are a seasoned ceilidh dancer or a complete beginner our caller, Christian, explains the moves before each dance begins, so everyone can join in and nobody is left wondering what to do

The atmosphere is casual, welcoming and high-energy, with a real sense of community. Come on your own, bring a partner or gather a group of friends, there is a place on the dancefloor for everyone.

Come and join the club for an unforgettable evening of live music, community dancing and joyful, high-energy fun

What actually is a ceilidh?

A ceilidh (kay-lee) is a traditional folk dance night with live music and a caller guiding you through each dance step by step – part party, part organised chaos. Think fast footwork, spinning your neighbour, and a lot of laughing when it goes wrong. Everyone dances together, it’s social, silly and a brilliant night out.

No experience needed. Our caller walks you through every dance, then the band kicks in and it all takes off.

A highly social experience, you’ll make new friends, and spend most of the night laughing while trying to keep up.

It’s one of the most fun nights out you can have – and it works whether you come solo or with a group.

What is Club Ceilidh?

Club Ceilidh is our take on traditional social folk dancing. We run regular, high-energy nights built around live music, clear calling and a packed dancefloor. Hosted by Freedom Fields Ceilidh Band and guests musicians, no two nights feel quite the same. In under six months we’ve gone from a small back room in a bar to selling out a large hall in under 10 minutes!

Alongside the main club nights, we run our Village Barn Dance series – a slightly more laid-back, all-ages version in village halls and rural spaces.

Whether it’s a busy city room or a country hall, the aim is the same: good music, simple dances, and a room full of people moving together.

It’s one of the most fun nights out you can have – no partner or experience required!

Do I need any experience?

None at all. Every dance is called and taught from scratch before the music starts, so you’ll know exactly what you’re doing. If you can walk in time to music, you can ceilidh.

Do I need a partner?

No at all – lots of people come without a partner. Most people come solo, with mates, or in a group, and you’ll be swapping partners throughout the night anyway. It’s one of the friendliest ways to meet people in the room.

Ceilidh dancing is naturally social. You can come on your own, with friends, or as a group – it all works.

If you do come with someone, you’re welcome to stick together, but most people mix in and that’s where the fun really starts

Can I come alone?

Absolutely, plenty of people do. When a dance is being setup, just put your hand in the air if you nned a partner and someone will come and find you. You’ll can dancing with different people all night or with a friend so you’re never stuck standing on the sidelines.

What should I wear?

Anything comfortable you can move in – it gets warm quickly once the dancing starts.

Think: light clothes, breathable fabrics, and shoes you can dance in (trainers are perfect).

Avoid heavy layers and very high heels – you’ll be on your feet and moving a lot. Most people go for “casual night out” with a practical edge.

Is there a bar?

Yes, fully licensed, so come thirsty as well as ready to dance.
